Knowing how I like fashion and dressing up in pretty things, you may mistakenly think I like shopping. If you do, let me tell you, you are wrong! I pretty much hate it. It’s tiring and expensive and I can never find what I’m looking for. So the only reason I have been chosen to play the main character in an adaptation of Confessions of a Shopaholic for our amateur drama society must be the colour of my hair. That, and the fact that I’m quite a good actress, if I say so myself.
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas We wish you a merry Christmas And a happy New Year!
We are putting on a fashion show at uni. It’s African-themed and it is a charity event. I love the bright colours and strong patterns of fabrics we used for the clothes we made and are going to model. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
As you might remember, I’ve been looking for a part-time job. No more bookshops for me, so I went for an office job. I even got a suit with a super smart pencil skirt and a pair of high heels for the interview. Luckily, it turns out it’s one of those more relaxed offices and I can wear just want I want. I’m so relieved, because if I had to wear that outfit more often I would just cry every day, unless I tripped and killed myself in it first, of course.
I absolutely love Art Nouveau!!! And Alfons Mucha is my all time favourite. He was was born in what is now Czech Republic. He worked in Brno, the capital of his native Moravia, in Prague and also in Vienna and Paris. I love his Slavic themed art and the posters he did for the actress, Sarah Bernhardt in Paris. Sarah Bernhardt herself is worth of admiration. I only knew of her as a stage actress, but recently I’ve learned that she was also a very talented sculptor.
Alfons Mucha died of pneumonia in 1939, after being questioned by the Gestapo. This makes his art quite poignant to me, but the fact that it endured the cruelties of the war and still brings delight, can only testify that the good will always prevail. Speaking of those two little buddies, Deer and Max, they are now in disgrace. Although, in their defence, if someone is silly enough to leave such irresistible deliciousness unsupervised on the coffee table, serves them right, right?!
I haven’t written about Niamh recently and you may think that now, that Dylan’s in the picture, I completely neglect her. Let me assure you, we are still the best of friends and spend whatever time we have, when we are not at uni, together. It’s not only the two of us that can’t be separated. Our dogs, Max and Deer couldn’t live without each other.
